Maths and physics tutoring
I am Dr Leon Simpson. I am an online tutor with a commitment to and proven track record of raising attainment.
I studied an MPhys degree in Physics at the University of Oxford, followed by a PhD in Mechanical engineering at the University of Bath. I had a career in academic research, with postdoctoral research in mathematical physics done abroad behind me.
More recently, I worked at a college, teaching A-level Maths, Further Maths and Physics. Since leaving in 2018 I have worked as a tutor, ranging in scope from secondary education to helping postgraduate students in STEM subjects. I hold a teaching qualification, and I am DBS checked.
In 2023, 100% of my A-level Maths students obtained A/A* grades. My GCSE results in 2023 were also strong: 83% of my GCSE Maths students and 80% of my GCSE Physics students obtained a grade 9.

Secondary Maths and Physics tutoring
I have much experience of adjusting my practice to a wide variety of needs, sometimes creating bespoke resources for particular students. I know all the boards well and have a deep understanding of the material being examined.
Undergraduate and postgraduate maths and physics tutoring
This has included maths for an undergraduate Electrical engineer and mechanics for a masters Mechanical engineering student. Almost every resource used was authored by me.

Alongside that he helps drill key exam skills to help maximise attainment. With his excellent teaching skills, he helped my son attain an A in A-level Maths.

Our son achieved exactly what Leon predicted both in AS-level's and A-levels. Leon tutored our son for Maths, Further Maths, and physics. He achieved grade A in both Physics and Further Maths at AS-levels (Grade A being the highest grade awarded at AS-levels). He then went on to achieve A*s at both Physics and Maths at A-levels.
Our son is going to a Russell group University to do Computer Science. Leon has helped our son to pursue his passion.
